The Medium, the latest title from Bloober Team, has recouped its development costs just one day after release. According to a January 29 press release from Bloober Team obtained from Polish website Money.pl, The Medium’s sales have already covered the production and marketing costs of the game.

This is particularly impressive considering the title just launched on January 28 for PC and Xbox Series X | S. It also became available directly via Xbox Game Pass on the platform. However, the studio hasn’t released any information on the number of sales or how much the team has been paid by Microsoft to include the game in its subscription service.

The Medium is a psychological horror game in which the player can switch between realms, solving puzzles in both worlds to move forward. It’s a unique mechanic that carries on the studio’s tradition of experimentation, as was evident in previous games like Layers of Fear and Observer.

Xbox Game Pass has proven to be a huge success for Microsoft over the past 12 months. The company convinced EA to merge its subscription service, in the form of EA Play, with it. The tech giant also recently confirmed that Xbox Game Pass now has more than 15 million subscribers.
