Five years ago YouTube TV allowed people in the US to watch live TV from the comfort of their YouTube compatible device, whether it was a real TV or a smartphone, tablet, whatever. Now YouTube wants to become a hub to watch not only live TV, but also the various streaming services launched by the TV channels.

YouTube Primetime Channels is available today in the US and lets you subscribe to over 30 channels – go to the Movies & TV hub and make your choice. More will be coming soon, including the NBA League Pass.

As for what’s available today, below is the full list. Get prestigious content from Showtime, Starz and AMC +, you can get the Star Trek fix on Paramount + or enjoy some horror shows and movies on Shudder.

YouTube introduces Primetime Channels - a central hub for over 30 streaming services

Once you subscribe to a Primetime channel, it will work much like a regular YouTube channel you might be subscribed to – content from it will appear in search results and even in your recommendations.

Speaking of content, you get movies and TV show episodes, of course, but also additional stuff: trailers, behind-the-scenes videos, and interviews with actors. You know, stuff we used on DVD and Blu-ray.

People already use YouTube to watch a trailer, with Primetime channels they might be able to skip straight to watching the movie if they like what they see. And after it’s done, they’re a touch away from watching a review by their favorite film critic or an analysis for shows and movies with deeper storylines.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with YouTube to offer Paramount + customers another way to stream the content they love,” said Jeff Shultz, Chief Strategy Officer and Business Development Officer, Paramount Streaming. “This new feature gives us the opportunity to expand our presence on YouTube, broadening our reach and giving consumers even more choice when it comes to streaming the best in entertainment.”

YouTube plans to subscribe more streaming services to Primetime channels and soon expand to an international audience.

PS. this is not to be confused with a similar service on Amazon’s Prime Video, which also allows you to subscribe to Praramount +, Starz, Showtime, AMC +, etc. Furthermore, it goes without saying that major players like Netflix, Apple TV + and Disney + are not available on either Prime Video or YouTube’s Primetime channels.
