YouTube has announced a new feature useful for live streamers. It’s called Live Q&A and uses the same system as Live Chat during streams, but is more structured with different rules and to help make live streams more interactive.

YouTube introduces live question and answer sessions during live streams

The question and answer session can be started during a live stream using the Live Control Room. There is also a Live Polls feature right next to the Live Questions and Answers feature. And since it uses the same system as the chat section, banned words will be filtered out and it is also possible to report certain questions.

It is important to note that moderators will not be able to control the Q&A session in real time, but the Channel Manager and Editor rights grant access to the Q&A session. They can access the list of questions and select the questions to answer.

All questions are sorted chronologically and after 200 questions, the oldest will start disappearing. Only one question per user per minute is allowed.

In particular, real-time Q&A and surveys don’t work on mobile devices, and Q&A session details aren’t stored in YouTube Analytics.
