Short film revenue sharing launched this month, and now the video platform is launching its “Creator Music” catalog. Announced in September, creators would be able to purchase licenses to use the music in their videos or share ad revenue with the artist. This is now live for US YouTubers who are part of the YPP (YouTube Partner Program).
The licensing situation varies from track to track. Depending on the song you find, you’ll either be able to license it outright and download the track to use in your video, or you can pay for the music by sharing the revenue with the artist and their respective rights holders.

These licenses are for “single long video” and cannot be used for live streams. In any case, the “Creator Music” catalog will allow you to use copyrighted songs in your videos without demonetization from copyright infringement claims.
The catalog can be found in the desktop version of YouTube Studio at the bottom of the sidebar next to the usual free song library for YouTube videos. Eventually YouTube will expand its Creator Music to other markets.
