While the WWDC is still ongoing, yesterday we received all the announcements that we have summarized in this concluding keynote article. One of the rumors about the event was that Apple could have given us a preview of its mixed reality headset, but it didn’t go through. Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo it is now giving us an expected time frame as to when we will actually see the product.

Kuo: Apple AR headset will launch in January 2023

Due to ongoing COVID lockdowns in China and Shanghai in particular, Apple has been forced to backtrack on the development of its MR headset and Kuo believes the product will enter the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) phase later in Q3. 2022.

After the headset is finalized, Kuo expects a media launch event in January 2023 with the developer toolkit units shipping 2-4 weeks after that event. Pre-orders are expected to begin in Q2 2023, with open sales likely to begin around WWDC 2023. All of these dates are still a long way off at this point, so we’ll just have to wait and see if they really hold up.
