Smartphone makers in China have faced many obstacles in the past year and are looking for alternative production lines and supply chains. Xiaomi has now turned its eyes to Vietnam and has already delivered its first batch of smartphones made at its new manufacturing facility in Vietnam.
The new facility is located in the country’s North Vietnam and represents an investment of $ 80 million covering an area of 200,000 square meters. DBG technology, based in Hong Kong, is considered reliable for manufacturing.
Xiaomi’s goal is to use its new facility in Vietnam as a hub for exports to neighboring Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia and Thailand. Xiaomi is second in terms of market share in Vietnam with 22% and follows only Samsung (34%). Xiaomi’s other manufacturing centers are located in China and India.
