Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has landed at the headquarters and we have an unboxing for you. It comes with a rear glass panel case, complete with an adjustable kickstand, a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle, a 67W charger and a cable.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 in review

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is among the thinnest folds out there. It measures 5.4mm when open and 11.2mm when folded. Compare that to the Galaxy Z Fold4’s 6.3mm / 15.8mm and the Xiaomi phone looks thin as air.

There is a lot to be said about the Mix Fold 2 compared to the Galaxy Z Fold4. The Xiaomi foldable has a conventional-feeling external display with a 21: 9 aspect ratio, which is much better than the Galaxy Z Fold4’s improved 23: 9 coverage screen, but still excessively tall. This means that using the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 closed is almost as natural as using any plate phone. The external screen is also larger at 6.56 inches than the Fold4’s 6.2-inch screen.

Open the pair and the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has another clear advantage in terms of screen size. Its internal display extends 8.02 inches, or 206 cm2 in total area, while the foldable display of the Galaxy Z Fold4 is 7.6 inches or 183.2 cm2.

If you like your big displays, then the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has a clear size advantage over the Galaxy Z Fold4. Which makes it even more impressive that the Xiaomi phone is 1 gram lighter and overall thinner than the Samsung foldable.

Samsung has some advantages of its own. Multitasking on the Galaxy Z Fold4 is much more advanced – it’s easier to open an app in split screen view, and you can have multiple instances of the browser app, which the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 can’t do. This is partly due to the Galaxy running Android 12L, which is optimized for foldable phones, and the Xiaomi sticking to the regular Android 12.

The Galaxy also has the IPX8 water resistance certificate and support for the S Pen. Finally, the Galaxy Z Fold4 can be pre-ordered worldwide, while the Mix Fold 2 remains exclusive to China.

Outside of the displays, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 continues with its impressive specs. Performance is up to par thanks to the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 12GB of RAM. As for the camera, there is an optically stable 50MP 1 / 1.56 “Sony IMX766 main camera with Leica brand name. The rear also houses a 13MP ultrawide camera and an 8MP telephoto module with optical zoom 2x.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 also has a decent 4,500mAh battery with an impressive 67W charging.
