Xiaomi held a big event for its Redmi brand today, launching half a dozen new products. The stars of the show were the Redmi K60 range, consisting of three new phones: a flagship Redmi K60 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a vanilla Redmi K60 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and another premium phone called the Redmi K60E, powered by the new Dimension 8200 chipset.

Redmi K60 Pro

The top-end Redmi K60 Pro features a 6.67-inch AMOLED with a so-called 2K resolution, which is the intermediate step between QHD and Full HD, or simply, 3200 x 1440 pixels. According to promotional images, it can reach a brightness of 1,400 nits. There is a single hole in the center for the 16MP selfie camera.

The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+, and there is a fingerprint scanner under the display. Redmi has introduced Auto Brightness 2.0, an algorithm that learns how the device is being used over time, providing the necessary brightness for each process as desired by the user.

Redmi executives were extremely proud to talk about the new camera on stage. The main one on the back is a 50MP shooter with a Sony IMX800 sensor behind it, OIS and EIS. The company has improved object recognition for its AI filters. Additionally, he said the experience and quality would be on par with using a film camera, with clear improvements in processing speed and development.

The other two cameras aren’t anything out of the ordinary: an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter with a 118-degree field of view and a 2MP macro sensor.

Xiaomi has its own Surge P1 charging chip and it is implemented in the Redmi K60 Pro. The chip takes care of the power distribution for the 5,000mAh camera and ensures that the 120W fast charging protects the phone while filling it from 0 to 100% in 19 minutes.

One of the main improvements is wireless charging – it is 30W and Redmi has also introduced a dedicated charging pad that supports the same speed. The phone also offers a VC cooling solution with a total area of 5000 sq mm.

The Redmi K60 Pro has four colors: green, white, black and Champion Performance Edition. The latter is similar to the teal design of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, but the partnership obviously no longer exists.

The price starts from CNY 3,299 ($475/€455) for the 8/128GB memory version and goes up to CNY 4,599 ($660/€620) if the user decides to opt for the 16/512GB option. Sales will start on December 31 on the Xiaomi China website.

The Redmi K60 shares the look with its Pro brother. Here we also have a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with 1440p resolution, three cameras and a 5,000 sq mm cooling solution with vapor chamber.

The design on the back is also the same, but the camera is 64MP with OIS, combined with the same 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and 2MP macro sensor. The front houses the same 16MP selfie shooter.

Just like the Pro, the Redmi K60 also has 30W wireless charging. However, wired fast charging has been reduced to 67W, making room for 10% more capacity – the battery is now 5,500mAh.

The Redmi K60 is offered in four colors: white, green, blue and black leather with carbon details on the sides. Pricing starts at CNY 2,499 ($360/€335) for the 8/128GB version and can go up to CNY 3,599 ($515/€485) for the more powerful 16/512GB version. Just like the Pro, this Redmi K60 will also be launched on December 31 in Xiaomi’s online store in China.

Redmi K60E

The Redmi K60E is the first K-series flagship phone with the letter E at the end. Xiaomi has not revealed the reasons behind the letter, but it is certainly an efficient smartphone.

Redmi has maintained its premium status with the Mediatek chipset and brought the 6.67-inch AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and 1440p resolution seen in the other two Redmi K60 phones. The difference here is that it’s “only” 1,200 nits of brightness, “only” 10 bits, instead of 12 bits. Comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top.

The main camera on the back also has OIS, but this time it features a 48MP sensor. The other two sensors are 8MP ultra-wide-angle and 2MP macro sensors. The Redmi K60E’s battery is the same as the Redmi K60: 5,500mAh with 67W fast charging but no wireless charging.

Another downgrade of this phone is storage: instead of UFS 4.0, all storage options are UFS 3.1, while RAM has been reduced slightly from LPDDR5X to LPPDR5.
