Later this week, Xiaomi announces international availability for the 13 and 13 Pro, which was initially unveiled in China in December. And yet, the family obviously lacks an Ultra. The company’s CEO may have said there won’t be a 13S Ultra this year, but he didn’t mention anything about the 13 Ultra, which has seen a steadily increasing number of leaks in recent weeks.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra was presented in July 2022, so its successor still has a long way to go. A couple of images were released today featuring a case supposedly intended for the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra and paint the picture of a massive circular camera island.
Alleged case for Xiaomi 13 Ultra
Of course, we’re already used to it, since even the 12S Ultra wasn’t small by any stretch of the imagination. Today’s case leak also lines up with an alleged sketch of the device, as well as an alleged live image, both of which leaked last week in China. You can see the first one below and the second one under the next paragraph.
The sensor arrangement appears to be similar, but it’s not 100% either. The oval-shaped cutout at the top of the island may serve a purpose, but it’s not obvious what it would be from other leaked images.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is said to be launched in March or April, at least in China. It should have a huge focus on photography, not surprising given the Ultra lineage. According to a past leak, the 13 Ultra will keep its predecessor’s 1-inch main sensor, but add gimbal stabilization. All four cameras on the back will have autofocus and there will also be a dToF (Direct Time-of-Flight) sensor. Stick around and we’ll let you know when we know more.
