The announcement of the Xiaomi 13 series has been postponed following the death of Jiang Zemin, the former general secretary of the Communist Party of China. The smartphone company has yet to announce a new launch date, but that doesn’t stop online retailers from getting impatient users’ money.

News websites have reported that pre-orders for the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are already live, and some people have actually paid the CNY 999 ($142) deposit, despite the phones not being official.

Xiaomi 13 pre-orders are active despite the delayed launch

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is said to be the successor to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra with a 50MP main camera and a 1” Sony IMX989 sensor behind the lens. The Xiaomi 13, on the other hand, is expected to be an affordable and compact flagship with a narrow bezel, a flat OLED on the front and flat sides.

According to a source, the Xiaomi 13 will be slightly larger, only by a millimeter or two, than its predecessor Xiaomi 12. Its measurements will be 152.8 x 71.5 x 7.98/8.1 mm and it will weigh 189/ 185 grams, the difference coming from the panel: it’s glass or eco-leather.

The measurements of the Xiaomi 13 Pro would be 163.7 x 74.6 x 8.4 / 8.7 mm with a weight of 229 / 210 grams – here, the heavier but thinner variant is with a ceramic back, the latter leather option again.
