This week, Xiaomi announced the highly anticipated Xiaomi 13 Ultra, so now that you’ve had some time to settle your thoughts on it, we want to ask if it ticks the right boxes.

It might be a rhetorical question, as the 13 Ultra is currently the most popular phone in our database. Guys, you obviously can’t get enough.

Weekly survey: is the Xiaomi 13 Ultra hot or not?

Like every Ultra before it, the 13 Ultra is an outstanding smartphone and camera-centric device. Xiaomi ensured that it would be head and shoulders above any other phone on the market and be head and shoulders above its own Xiaomi 13 Pro.

Looking at the Xiaomi 13 Ultra next to the 13 Pro side by side, there are many similarities: the display and chipset are the same, the main camera uses the same sensor, and the Xiaomi 13 Pro even has an advantage in charging – 120W vs 90 w.

But the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has a larger battery, a nicer build with flat matte sides and a back panel covered in antibacterial nanotech silicone leather. And when it comes to cameras, the 13 Ultra goes way beyond its sibling.

This sentiment also applies to most other phones on the market. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra can be as good a case as the best photo and video phone in the world right now. The only other device that has equally impressive camera hardware is the Oppo Find X6 Pro, and it’s limited to China. Even ignoring it, we’re not sure that the Oppo beats the Xiaomi. This may need to be fixed with some good old-fashioned shooting.

For years we’ve asked for a phone with two telephoto lenses and Xiaomi has delivered. The 13 Ultra added a much-needed 3.2x 75mm midrange zoom to the must-have 5x 120mm camera. Even better, the two have brighter lenses, and we’ve come to expect better image quality.

But in addition to the hardware improvements, Xiaomi has also made some steps forward in the software. Xiaomi 13 Ultra is capable of capturing DNG UltraRAW with integrated multi-frame processing and HDR even at the maximum resolution of 50MP. These files will give budding photographers invaluable control in Lightroom, and Adobe will soon be releasing a camera profile just for the 13 Ultra.

Then there are the Leica color modes, the Leica Portrait mode and a new intuitive Fast Shot mode for street photographers that will allow you to set a focus distance and then capture images in just 0.8 seconds.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is a true photographer’s dream phone and that’s before we consider that it has the best chipset out there, the fastest storage, the most advanced display, exquisite build quality and IP68 waterproof and dust.

The last icing on the cake is that Xiaomi will release the 13 Ultra worldwide, unlike its predecessor. He makes the discussion about wanting one really meaningful.
