The Vivo Y77 is official. And if it sounds familiar, that’s because it’s the second time this has happened this week, but the first Y77 5G launched in Malaysia was a different phone both in terms of design and specs. Vivo apparently felt that name was so cool that she would reuse it even if it caused a confusing mess.

The Chinese Vivo Y77 does not officially have 5G in its name, although it does support the latest networks. It runs on a better MediaTek Dimensity 930 chipset than its international counterpart’s Dimensity 810. It is paired with 6GB, 8GB, or even 12GB of RAM. The storage space is 128GB or 256GB.

The display is also better. It is a 6.64 inch 2388x1080px IPS LCD with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sample rate. There is a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint scanner or you can use the 8MP selfie camera for facial recognition.

The cameras of the Chinese Y77 are the same as the Malaysian one: a 50 MP f / 1.8 main camera and a dedicated 2 MP f / 2.4 macro.

There’s a 4,500mAh battery with 80W dual-core flash charging. The Vivo Y77 runs Android 12 with Origin OS Ocean on top.
