The vivo X Fold2 was rumored to arrive this month, and today the launch date was officially confirmed as April 20th. At that time we will also see the company’s first clamshell foldable, the vivo X Flip, and the new vivo Pad 2 tablet.
The event in China will focus on flagship performances and big screens, said Huang Tao, vice president of vivo. The teasers claimed that there will be some sort of “3D imaging technology” which we assume will be similar to what ZTE unveiled at MWC in February with its ZTE nubia Pad 3D.
The vivo X Fold2 is expected to have an 8.03″ foldable AMOLED E6 inside and a 6.53″ AMOLED E6 outside/cover. Both will have a fingerprint scanner underneath, while a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset will handle the computing.
Rumors about the X Flip were scarcer: We’ve heard it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and pack a 32MP selfie camera inside a hole. The main camera on the back is expected to be 50MP with a Sony IMX866 sensor, Zeiss T* coating and OIS.
The vivo Pad 2 is expected to be a larger version of the vivo Pad with a 12.1-inch LCD and will also be powerful thanks to a Dimensity 9000 chipset. Reports say it will have a massive 10,000mAh cell, which should work wonders for battery life.
During the event, the price and availability for the Chinese market will also be revealed, but we do not believe there will be any mention of the international scene. We even believe none of these phones are fleeing their home country, although we’d love to be surprised.
