As we followed the teasers of the vivo V29e up to its unveiling in India, the vivo V29 beat it to the finish line. In fact, the V29 will be available in over 39 markets, including India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Turkey, Mexico and select European markets.

Of course, the phone made its European debut earlier this month, but the announcement lacked details, particularly details on price and availability. We’re guessing vivo wanted to wait until it’s ready to launch the phone in multiple markets at once.

Here’s some bad news: Pricing and availability will be announced by region. However, only the EU subsite of vivo.com has a page for the V29, everyone else has nothing to show yet. And the EU page has also not been updated with the launch details.

Let’s take a closer look at the details we have so far. The vivo V29, like other V-series phones, focuses on affordable camera performance. It has a 50 MP main camera with a fairly large 1/1.56″ sensor (1.0 µm pixels) and OIS, as well as the Aura Light, a 15.6 mm (0. 6″, the largest in the history of vivo) intended for more uniform illumination of portrait photos. The 50MP selfie camera has a wide-angle lens (22mm) with autofocus and two of its own LED lights. Turning to the back again for a moment, there’s also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

The vivo V29 is coming to several Asian markets

The phone features a 6.78” curved AMOLED display, a 10-bit 120Hz panel, with 1,260 x 2,800px, so between FHD+ and QHD+. It is powered by Snapdragon 778G+ with 8/12GB RAM and 256GB of storage, plus a 4,600mAh battery with 80W fast wired charging (1-50% in 18 minutes, according to official numbers).

One new thing we’ve learned about the V29 is that it will have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The phone will be available in Peak Blue, Starry Purple and Velvet Red and Noble Black, each with its own special finish for the rear glass to bring it to life (e.g. Velvet Red has a color shift effect caused by UV light). Note that we’ve only seen images of the blue and black colorways for now.
