If you need something more powerful than the Amazon Fire tablets, there are Prime Day deals on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S8 series as well. “Coming out” as the Tab S9 generation is just around the corner (to be unveiled later this month), but tablets age slower than phones, so you don’t need to buy the latest model.

We’ll start with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, the only one with an LCD in the S8 family – an 11” 120Hz panel with 2,560 x 1,600px (16:10) resolution. This slate has an 8,000mAh battery with 45W charging. Like its more expensive siblings, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and comes with an S Pen included.

The Galaxy Tab S8+ has a larger 12.4″ Super AMOLED display (120Hz, HDR10) with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,752 px (still 16:10). The battery is bigger, 10,090 mAh, charging is the same at 45W. Note that these are Wi-Fi tablets (there are LTE models too, if you like) with 128GB of storage (all have microSD slots for easy expansion).

The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is the largest of the bunch with a 14.6-inch 2,960 x 1,848 px (16:10) display and 11,200mAh battery. Note that all three S8 tablets have DeX, which works both on the tablet screen or on an external monitor via USB-C.

The Galaxy Tab S7 FE also has DeX and a USB-C port with video out. Its 12.4-inch display is a 60Hz LCD (2,560 x 1,600px), unlike the S8+. And it is powered by the Snapdragon 778G. The S8+ is clearly better, but there’s a not inconsiderable price premium over the S7 FE.

Finally, the Galaxy S6 Lite (2022) is the budget option in the Tab S family. This one skips DeX, but comes with an S Pen included, so it’s ready for note-taking. It has a 10.4-inch 60Hz (2,000 x 1,200px) LCD and a Snapdragon 720 chipset, so it’s not a powerhouse, but it costs about half the S7 FE.
