Elon Musk is now in full control of Twitter and is making big changes. In his first week as Twitter CEO, Musk dissolved the board of directors, consolidating power to himself, and also fired four senior executives: former CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, political executive Vijaya Gadde and General Councilor Sean Edgett. According to anonymous sources, one of those executives was escorted out of the Twitter offices.

In addition to the new leadership, the company will also undergo major changes in its operations. Musk wants to revive Vine, Twitter’s looping video app, which shut down in 2016. Musk himself conducted a survey on whether people wanted Vine back. Of the nearly 5 million who voted, almost 70% said Yes.

Twitter could bring back Vine, make verification a benefit only for blue

Musk reportedly wants Vine back by the end of 2022, but as a former member of the Vine staff responsible for closing Vine, Sara Beykpour tweeted, the “code is over 6 years old. Some are over 10 years old.” He went on to say that if Twitter wanted to revive Vine, it had to start from scratch,

Changes to APIs, security policies, and other factors will make patching old code more of a hassle than starting over. Twitter engineers could use the current Twitter video code to bring back Vine.

Another report yesterday said that Musk intends to make verification an exclusive part of Twitter’s Blue subscription program and raise the price of that subscription from $ 5 per month to $ 20.

Musk is reportedly so adamant that he gave employees a November 7 deadline to make changes possible or get fired.

Existing verified users will be given 90 days to subscribe to Twitter Blue or lose the blue tick. There are approximately 428,000 verified members of the 206 million daily users on Twitter. Some have already reacted to the reports, saying they will not pay.

Twitter Blue adds support for Twitter personalization, the ability to share top articles, Undo Tweets, and most recently, the ability to edit tweets.
