vivo launched the Y11 with a 4-inch LCD, 5MP main camera and 1,700mAh battery in 2014 and followed up with a new model in October 2019, with a modern design and better specs. Over three years later , vivo has unveiled the Y11 2023 Version, expected with different design and hardware.
The front of the vivo Y11 (2023) looks similar to the 2019 model as the Chinese phone maker is still stuck with the dated waterdrop notch, which now houses a 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera instead of a 8 MP f/1.8 unit of the Y11 ( 2019) had. However, the screen diagonal has increased from 6.35″ to 6.51″, but it is still a 60Hz LCD with HD+ resolution.
That said, unlike the 2019 model, the 2023 version of the Y11 features flat bezels and a flat back panel, sporting a rectangular camera island with a large circle that houses the 8MP main camera and LED flash. The Y11 2019 featured a dual camera setup on the back comprising 13MP main unit and 2MP depth unit. It’s also been joined by a fingerprint reader, which we don’t have on the 2023 model. And not because it’s built into the power button, but because vivo skipped it altogether.
The vivo Y11 (2019) came with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 SoC under the hood, while the Y11 (2023) has MediaTek’s Helio P35 chip at the helm with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage , expandable up to 1 TB via a microSD card. The smartphone runs Android 12-based OriginOS Ocean out of the box and packs a 5,000mAh battery that draws power through a microUSB port at up to 10W like the Y11 (2019).
The vivo Y11 (2023) is available in blue and black colors and has two memory options: 4GB/128GB and 6GB/128GB, respectively priced at CNY 899 ($130/€120) and CNY 999 ($145/€135). It is listed on vivo’s official Chinese website, but nothing is known about the on-sale date in China and availability in other countries.
