The Samsung Fan Edition (FE) line of phones began with the Galaxy S20 FE, and then we saw the Galaxy S21 FE. Logically, you’d expect there to be a Galaxy S22 FE in the future, but according to a new rumor from “multiple sources” Samsung won’t actually release the S22 FE.

So it looks like the company may be ready to put its FE smartphones aside after just two years. This may not be well received by fans who wanted a cheaper option with a Korean firm’s flagship chipset and were unwilling to spend as much as regular S-series flagships now cost.

Samsung had trouble releasing the Galaxy S21 FE, which came out almost a year after the other members of the S21 family were launched. At the time, rumors claimed this was due to the ongoing chip crisis. The spotlight position of the S21 FE was quickly won by the S22 line which was announced just a few weeks later. However, this isn’t a good reason to stop releasing FE phones – it’s just a reason to get them out with less delay after non-FE models.

If you’re interested in the Galaxy S21 FE, which may now be the ultimate FE phone ever, make sure you don’t miss our in-depth review.
