Xiaomi will soon present its first phone with a 200MP camera and, unlike the 12S Ultra, it will be available in the West. This is the Xiaomi 12T Pro and it will be joined by a vanilla 12T model.

Both phones will have 6.67-inch flat AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1,220 x 2,712 pixels (which you may have seen labeled “1.5K”, falls between FHD + and QHD +). The displays will have a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5.

The batteries will also be the same with a 5,000mAh capacity and 120W fast charging (wired, no word on wireless). While these two are fairly premium models, Xiaomi will reportedly cut costs by switching from a metal frame (like on the 12 / 12S) to a plastic frame. Either way, the difference between the two phones is in the main cameras and chipset.

Xiaomi 12T Pro will have a 200 MP camera with a fairly bright f / 1.69 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). This is likely the same Samsung HP1 (1 / 1.22 “) sensor that is in the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, except the Moto puts it behind a narrower f / 1.9 aperture.

The Pro model will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset also used in 12S phones. Here it will be paired with 8 / 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage.

The vanilla Xiaomi 12T will instead have a 108MP main camera with an aperture of f / 1.65 (but without OIS, apparently). The 12T and 12T Pro will share the remaining camera modules and aren’t particularly impressive – there will be an 8MP ultra wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro cam, and a 2MP selfie camera on the front.

Instead of a Qualcomm chip, the 12T will be powered by a “Dimensity 8100 Ultra”, though it’s unclear how it differs from the regular 8100. It will be paired with 8GB of RAM (no 12GB options) and 128 / 256GB. of storage space. Take a look at the Redmi K50 Ultra, it has very similar hardware except it is based on the 8+ Gen 1 chip.

As you can imagine, Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro will also have a different price, but the declared value is lower than what you would pay for Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro respectively.

Xiaomi 12T Pro is said to cost € 850 in Europe (which converts to ₹ 67,500). For comparison, the Xiaomi 12 Pro costs € 900 right now on mi.com. Of course, that has a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide and a 2x 50MP tele, plus a QHD + LTPO AMOLED panel, but it uses the older 8 Gen 1 chipset and has a smaller 4,600 battery. mAh (also with 120 W charging).

The Xiaomi 12T is expected to cost € 650 (₹ 52,000), which is again just below what a Xiaomi 12 costs from the official store (€ 700). However, that one had an 8 Gen 1 chip, which should surpass the Dimensity (even if it gets hot). However, it comes with a smaller, slower battery (4,500mAh, 67W) and a different camera setup (50 + 13 + 5MP).

The Xiaomi 12T is expected to go official next week and the Pro will enter a 200MP war against the Moto Edge 30 Ultra (which sells for € 900).

By the way, a couple of weeks ago some renderings of the Xiaomi 12T Pro surfaced and they were paired with images of a Redmi Pad tablet. There is no guarantee that the Pad will also arrive next week, but we will keep an eye on it.
