One of the big updates coming with the iPhone 14 family this fall could be the selfie camera, at least if a new report outside Korea is to be believed. Apple would be looking to buy high-end selfie snapper for its next-generation iPhones, and as such is looking for LG Innotek to supply the cameras, alongside Sharp.
This would be the first time in history that an iPhone’s front camera would be made by a Korean company. Apple is reportedly designating selfie cams as high-end components in the future, not as low-end as they used to be.
LG Innotek’s camera was originally supposed to be used on the iPhone 15, but Apple recently moved the program quickly. This is due to some quality issues encountered with Chinese-made cameras that emerged during quality testing. Then the unnamed Chinese manufacturers were started and LG Innotek was introduced as a replacement for the iPhone 14 generation. At least that’s how the story goes in today’s unconfirmed rumor – which, for that reason alone, you should take with a hefty dose. of salt.
That said, it is time for Apple to update its selfie cams. And should that rumor turn out, iPhone 14 models will have autofocus on their selfie snappers. This, coupled with the improvement of other features, has resulted in the unit price of the iPhone 14’s front camera increasing almost three times over previous models.
