Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 phones yesterday, which come with One UI 6.1 out of the box. The new interface lets you have your home screen wallpaper on the lock screen when the Always-On Display feature is turned on.
According to the insiders who spoke Sam Mobile, for now the functionality will remain exclusive to the S24 series. Older Galaxy devices have less efficient displays, so enabling the feature would have too much of an impact on battery life.
For starters, Always On Display has never been a battery-saving feature. However, Samsung has said that the panels on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra are more energy efficient and so the damage done to battery life is acceptable.
The new feature eliminates the background of the image found on the home screen, keeping only the foreground object on the lock screen. This way you can always have your favorite person or character on display.
