The Poco C40 was due to be unveiled worldwide today, but the brand’s division in Vietnam jumped the gun and had its local launch last week. Today it’s officially official with its chipset from a manufacturer you’ve probably never heard of before.

The front panel is a 6.71-inch LCD with HD + resolution and a teardrop notch for the selfie camera. The fingerprint scanner is on the back, mounted on a large black island.

The cameras are located within the same large rectangle – you get a 13MP base main camera and a 2MP depth sensor.

The most intriguing feature of this phone is its huge 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging. However, the Xiaomi-owned brand will ship the phone with a 10W charger, so you need to buy an additional charger to take advantage of it.

The chipset isn’t manufactured by Qualcomm, Mediatek, or even Unisoc – it’s Shanghai-based JLQ’s JR510 and has four 2 GHz CPU cores and four more clocked at 1.5 GHz, while the GPU is Mali-G52. As far as performance is concerned, we expect it to be close to the Snapdragon 450 or the Helio G35.

There are two memory options of the Poco C40: 3/32 GB and 4/64 GB, with the internal memory expandable via microSD cards. Color options remain three on the global market: black, green and yellow, and Poco said in an official press release that “pricing varies based on regional availability.”
