Sony’s flagship WF-1000XM5 true wireless earphones have been leaking a lot in recent months, and that means their launch is pretty close – in fact, a new source says they’ll finally be official within the next few days.

Right before that, we have a few more leaked details about the couple. The WF-1000XM5s are very light, only 5.9g. They come with what Sony calls Dynamic Driver X, which measures 8.4mm diagonally and should provide excellent audio quality.

There are two proprietary processors onboard and dual feedback microphones, enabling real-time optimization of the noise canceling effect to deliver the best active noise canceling (ANC) performance depending on the environment.

Each earbud has three microphones, which can apparently detect noise more accurately than before to fine-tune the sound if needed. The new drivers provide “richer voices,” Sony says in its marketing materials. HiRes Audio and DSEE Extreme are supported. The WF-1000XM5 has built-in bone conduction sensors and “Precise Voice Pickup” technology for excellent calls even in noisy environments.

The case has a 500mAh battery which can extend the total autonomy of the earphones to 24 hours. That said, it’s still unclear how much battery life the earbuds themselves are capable of. Charging the earbuds in the case for three minutes results in an hour of playback, and fully charging the case and earbuds should take two hours.

The WF-1000XM5 features Bluetooth 5.3 and supports multipoint connections. The earphones are IPX4 certified to resist sweat and splashes.

That’s all the new information we have from today’s leak, and while prices haven’t been disclosed, don’t expect them to be cheap. However, if indeed they are announced in a few days, we will find out everything there is to know about them very soon.
