5 new Huawei phones have been certified by the Bluetooth SIG and based on their identifiers will offer 5G connectivity. The five new devices are ADA-AN00, PSD-AN00, ADA-TN00, BLK-AN00 and BLK-TN00 with the A AND TN extension suffixes indicating 5G connectivity. For reference, Huawei 4G phones such as the Mate 50 (CET-AL00), Mate X3 (ALT-AL00), and P60 Pro (MNA-AL00) all carry the TO THE suffix. Not much else is known about the new certified devices other than whether they support Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.

A recent report from Reuters suggests that Huawei is working with Chinese foundry SMIC to develop 5G chipsets using SMIC’s N+1 manufacturing process and Huawei’s Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software tools. Yield rates of the resulting chips are expected to be less than 50% with forecasts suggesting initial production of 2-4 million units of 5G chipsets. Huawei is reportedly aiming to launch its first 5G phones with the newly developed chipset later this year, which could be part of the Mate 60 series.
