The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is rumored to arrive sooner than expected, and while we haven’t heard anything from the Korean conglomerate yet, we just got our first look at the Galaxy Z Fold5, courtesy of On Leakswho shared a 360° video and 5K rendering of the foldable smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 looks almost identical to its Fold4 predecessor, and at first glance, you may not be able to tell the two phones apart. However, upon closer inspection, you can see that the LED flash positioned inside the Galaxy Z Fold4’s camera island is now located on the right side of the Galaxy Z Fold5’s top camera.
While the design remains largely unchanged from last year, the hinge mechanism will be the most notable difference this year. The Fold5 is said to use a teardrop hinge to reduce the gap when the smartphone is folded and hide the crease in the display when unfolded.

The source claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 will measure 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.3mm when unfolded and 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.5mm when folded. The thickness of the smartphone will be 13.4 mm in the folded state. By comparison, the Fold4 measured 155.1 x 67.1 x 14.2-15.8mm when closed and 155.1 x 130.1 x 6.3mm when unfolded. The reduction in the thickness of the Fold5 when folded could be attributed to the new hinge mechanism.
The source also claims that the foldable screen of the Galaxy Z Fold5 will measure a screen size of 7.6 inches diagonally, while the outer screen diagonal will be 6.2 inches, confirming previous rumors. The Fold4’s display also measured the same, but since the Fold5 is smaller in size, its bezels will be thinner.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is said to go official in July alongside the Galaxy Z Flip5, so expect to hear more about these foldable smartphones in the coming weeks.
