When the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE arrived in India in January 2022, it was the Exynos 2100 version and its base 8/128GB configuration was being sold for ₹50,000 (8/256GB variant was ₹54,000). Now Samsung has decided to relaunch the phone, this time with the Snapdragon 888 chipset which other regions have enjoyed.

Technically, the phone is called “Galaxy S21 FE 2023”. Does that mean there will be more changes? Not exactly. The technological perspective got hold of internal training materials to prepare employees for the (re)launch of the S21 FE and everything looks the same (apart from the chipset, of course).

That means a 6.4-inch 120Hz display, an FHD+ AMOLED panel, a 12MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide angle and 8MP (3x) rear camera, as well as a 32MP selfie camera. It has a capacity of 4,500mAh and supports 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.

One small change is that there’s no mention of an 8/128GB model, just 8/256GB. Alright. There will be four colorways to choose from: Navy Blue, Olive, Graphite and Lavender. Note that Navy Blue is a new color, it replaces the White option that was available on the Exynos version.

One thing that intrigues us is whether the Galaxy S21 FE 2023 will launch with Android 12 or 13 out of the box. Well, what we really want to know is the final version of Android for this model: will it receive another update from the 2022 model? Unfortunately, the training materials are mum on the subject.

Finally, there’s the argument of price – the phone will launch at the same ₹50,000, but since it has double the storage space, that’s technically a discount.

By the way, Samsung re-released the S20 FE 5G some time ago, it was called “Galaxy S20 FE 2022” and it was only available in selected countries such as South Korea and Mexico. It was basically the same as the Snapdragon S20 FE, so the story of the S21 FE is nothing new.
