Latest news! Samsung is copying Nothing! Well, not quite, but next year it will get closer to the new brand’s philosophy of cameras, according to a new report from its home in Korea.

Presumably, Samsung will release the useless depth-sensing cameras from the back of its upcoming Galaxy A24, A34, and A54 models, which are due out in 2023. It won’t also remove the near-useless macro cams from these phones, so it’s stopping halfway through its journey. to become more like Nothing, a company that just announced a phone with only two camera sensors: the main one and the ultrawide one.

Pulcinella’s secret in the industry in recent years has been that most mid-ranges in that price range actually only have two useful cameras, the main and the ultra-wide, but manufacturers have felt the need to stuff their butt. with at least one extra unit, if not two: a depth sensor here, a monochrome one there, even a macro cam somewhere.

Has this inflation sensor (which turns out to have foreshadowed actual inflation) ever convinced anyone that a $ 200 Samsung or Poco or Redmi has great cameras because there is simply many of them? Who knows. But this trend can’t really wear off soon enough, and it looks like Samsung will be doing its bit to help. Or at least it will be a good start if this rumor reveals itself.

The same report goes on to say that the Galaxy A24 will come with a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro cam, while the A34 will go with a 48MP main camera and keep the other two the same. . Oddly enough, the A54, which is supposed to be the top end of this group, will only have a 5MP ultrawide shooter if this ratio is correct. This will be alongside the 50MP main snapper and 5MP macro cam, sadly still mandatory.

Samsung will apparently use the resources it won’t spend to put those depth sensors into the phones to “harden” the camera’s essential specs for the other sensors. The Galaxy A34 is rumored to land in March next year, while the A54 is expected to arrive a month later.
