The Mobile World Congress in Las Vegas is underway and Razer, along with Qualcomm and Verizon, has announced a new Android-powered gaming console: the Razer Edge 5G. The device will be officially unveiled on October 15th at RazerCon, but we have a brief introduction.

As the name suggests, the Razer Edge 5G will offer 5G connectivity which would be a first on a handheld game console of its kind. The device will be able to run games without being connected to the internet as it is equipped with the Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 platform, announced last year along with a development kit created by Razer that has its similarities to the Edge 5G.

Being an Android device, you can expect the Razer Edge 5G to run all mobile games available on the Google Play Store, although it will also run cloud gaming services and streaming games from your PC or console. The video shows the design of the 5G Edge which features dual sticks, a D-pad and several buttons next to the display while the rear features several adaptive triggers on the shoulders.

The device is also expected to offer a 1080P webcam for live streaming and will stream to a 4K TV or monitor, AR headset, and VR via USB-C with DisplayPort support.
