Oppo recalled its phones from Germany last year due to a legal dispute with Nokia. A report came out this March stating that Oppo (and its brother OnePlus) will leave several key markets: France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom. Both Oppo and OnePlus have refuted that report, but there could still be trouble on the horizon.

Fandroid interviewed several employees in France to find out what’s going on. One worked for Atmospheres, an Oppo contractor that handles phone sales. According to that person, the service contract with Oppo ends on June 30th.

A former Oppo sales manager said employees have been told the new Find X and Reno series will not be released in France. The Find N2 Flip was originally supposed to be available in retail stores, but plans have changed and the phone is only available online. Sales staff have reportedly been told to tear down the Oppo displays and stop sales even before the June 30 deadline.

Oppo may withdraw from France after June 30, several employees say

Oppo has said it will remain active in France after June 30. However, it’s unclear whether its phones will remain available: in Germany, Oppo has removed all phones from its local site, while things like headsets and wearables have continued to be sold (they appear to be gone even now).

Additionally, Oppo reassures current owners that it will continue to provide after-sales support and services for its phones, including receiving software updates. The Oppo France site still sells phones.
