After months of leaks, OnePlus has finally released its midrange hero for 2023: the OnePlus Nord 3. The phone offers a number of upgrades over its predecessor, the Nord 2T: bigger and better screen, more powerful chipset and battery bigger.

The new Nord is now built around a 6.74-inch display, up from last year’s 6.43-inch screen, placing it in an entirely different size category. The new OLED panel supports a refresh rate of 120Hz and HDR10+ content. Interestingly, the screen features a higher resolution of 1240 x 2772 px.

The screen also has an ultra-fast touch response speed of 1000Hz, 10-bit color depth, and can adjust the refresh rate within the range of 40-120Hz. For a full multimedia experience, the Nord 3 offers a set of Dolby Atmos tuned stereo speakers.

A new MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset replaces the older Dimensity 1300 and promises a substantial increase in performance and efficiency. The silicon is paired with 8GB or 16GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal memory, respectively.

However, the camera hardware remains unchanged. The same 50MP Sony IMX890 imager with 1/1.56″ size and 1.0µm pixel pitch is paired with an optically stabilized lens with an f/1.9 aperture. The ultrawide has an 8MP sensor, f/2.3 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. There is also a 2MP macro camera on the back, while the front-facing camera has been updated to a 16MP sensor.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, a significant increase over the predecessor’s 4,500mAh pack, while retaining 80W fast charging. OnePlus promises good battery health after four years of daily charging.

Of course, the phone comes with Android 13 out of the box, based on OxygenOS 13, and the company promises to keep the phone up to date for three years, which means it will get three major Android updates.

As you can see from the photos, the Nord 3 has a new, simpler design with flat edges and a flat glass back panel. The chassis is IP54 certified against splashes and dust, and you can find OnePlus’ iconic warning slider on the side.
