We’re used to seeing newer smartphones receiving big Android updates before their predecessors, but OnePlus has gone a completely different route with the North line. The original Nord received the update to Android 12 about a couple of weeks ago, while its successor, the Nord 2, is just starting to get it now, after passing a couple of Open Betas.

The first of these was released about a month ago, so it’s no surprise that the stable release took a few weeks later. Either way, it’s now available as a 4.89GB download, more than six months after Google initially released it, but better late than never, right?

OnePlus Nord 2 is now receiving the stable update to Android 12

The launch has started in India and is staged as always, meaning that only a small subset of devices will receive the update notification in the next few days. At some point, if no bugs are found blocking the show, a wider distribution will begin. The new build number for Indian North 2 units is DN2101_11.C.04 and you also get the May 2022 security patches.

If you think you’ve waited long enough and know what sideloading an OTA package entails, you can go to the Source linked below to download the full OTA zip. If not, it’s best to wait for the notification. Interestingly, and perhaps even worrying, this build appears to be exactly the same as the second Open Beta. Whether this is an error or not remains to be seen, since OnePlus has not yet officially published the stable update on its forums: the news about this version comes from the owners of Nord 2 who received it.
