Earlier today we shared some leaked renders of the upcoming OnePlus 10T. The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed something that was missing: OnePlus’s iconic alert slider, a feature the company debuted in the Android world, and has remained mainstream ever since. We say “in the Android world” because obviously Apple had a similar slider before OnePlus.

Either way, the alert slider has been a staple of OnePlus phones and was badly missed by some as the company expanded to include entry-level phones that have just been rebranded as Oppos. The lack of the warning slider in the Nord N models was therefore understandable, as they were initially designed as Oppos.

OnePlus' iconic alert slider will be limited to Pro models while hitting some Oppo flagships

But what about the OnePlus 10T? A new trend will apparently begin: from this point on, only OnePlus Pro flagships will feature an alert slider, according to prolific leaker Yogesh Brar on Twitter. High-end non-Pro OnePlus phones will no longer have it, and neither will the next Nord.

To add insult to injury in some ways, it appears that some future Oppo flagships will actually be equipped with an alert slider, “borrowing” the functionality from the sister brand. We wonder how well diehard OnePlus fans will take it, considering all the previous fuss about merging OxygenOS with ColorOS.

We note at the end here that this is just a simple rumor at this point, OnePlus hasn’t confirmed this yet, so it may end up not happening after all. Only time will tell.
