The OnePlus 12 is expected to arrive in December with three cameras and early rumors suggested a combination of 50MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide angle and 64MP telephoto camera.
Today, leaksters Digital chat station revealed that the ultra-wide camera will actually have a 48MP 1/2” sensor and f/2.2 aperture, while the zoom lens will feature the 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with OIS. The biggest surprise is the new main sensor: the 50 MP Sony IMX966.
According to what was previously reported by the same source, the new Sony sensor will have equivalent performance to the Sony IMX989, a 1-inch imager. Its small size will be compensated by the double-layer structure, which improves its sensitivity.
The new sensor will be paired with OIS and will benefit from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s computational photography capabilities. Beyond that, the 64MP telephoto lens, which is expected to have 3x optical zoom, will have even better low-light performance, again time thanks to the new Qualcomm chipset.
The OnePlus 12 will reportedly arrive in December, with an expected debut in China and a global release in early 2024.
