Nothing Tech just announced its Ear (2) wireless earbuds. These are the third member of Nothing’s range of wireless earphones and serve as a direct successor to the Nothing Ear (1), which launched in June 2021. Not much has changed in terms of design between the two models, but the specs department has gained some additions. useful.
Nothing Ear (2) offers support for the LHDC 5.0 audio codec which allows streaming of high resolution audio. The buds also feature a new custom audio profile that lets you calibrate the buds to your specific hearing after taking a quick test in the Nothing X companion app. You can further tweak the equalizer settings to your liking from within the app.
Ear (2) also features Active Adaptive Noise Cancellation ANC that cuts out unwanted noise based on your specific ear profile and surrounding environment. Nothing has updated the 11.6mm drivers with a new diaphragm unit made from graphene and polyurethane materials. The voice pickup has also been reworked with better wind protection which is supposed to be better at isolating your voice in harsh environments. Ear (2) also carries double coupling.
Battery life is estimated to be up to 36 hours with the charging case. You can recharge the case via USB-C or go the wireless route at 2.5W speeds. The new earbuds support Google Fast Pair for Android devices and Microsoft Swift Pair for Windows users. The over-the-ear case (2) is IP55 rated against dust and splash water, while the buds offer an IP54 rating.
