Motorola took the Razr 2022 foldable global this week and has now made it to headquarters to take its place in the review queue. It comes with the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a foldable 1080p OLED with 144Hz refresh rate, and a dual camera on the outside.
We can’t wait to put it to the test and go through the review process, but first here’s what struck us when we pulled it out of the box.
The lid of the box opens to reveal the phone itself, open. Below we find the 30W charger, a USB-C to USB-C cable and some reading material on warranty and safety. The box itself closes with a snap magnet.
The Razr itself is a very large phone, wider than its predecessor and its main rival – the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. The first impression is that it is going a little too far to be comfortable, but maybe it will grow on us after a few days.
Folding the phone is neat and the device snaps nicely, with an easy snap hinge. It is a bit lighter than the P50 Pocket or Z Fold4, and it opens more easily too.

The coverage display has the same 2.7 ”diagonal as the predecessor Razr 5G but is much larger than its rivals. And there’s still enough room for the dual camera and LED flash.
This is a huge improvement and with the UI once again allowing selfies to be taken with the main cam, more people will be able to fit into the frame, thanks to the ultra-wide 13MP AF cam.
The internal camera located inside a hole now has a 32MP sensor. The panel itself looks good but the bezels are quite thick, reducing the futuristic feel a bit.
The Razr 2022 looks like a true flagship that on paper has every chance of beating the Galaxy Z Flip4 and even the Huawei P50 Pocket for the most capable clamshell title out there. We will have a verdict once we are ready with the review, so stay tuned!
