Samsung is expected to host an event for Fan Edition devices, including the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone, Galaxy Buds FE wearable audio devices, and two tablets: Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE+. More specifics about the slate duo have appeared online, and fans won’t be happy with the results.

According to WinFuture, the larger displays will be LCD and not OLED, which would have a big impact on battery consumption and color appearance. Additionally, only the Plus variant would reportedly work with an S Pen, making the non-Plus version rather unattractive.

The panel of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE should be 10.9 “with a resolution of 2304 x 1440 pixels, or a 16:10 ratio. The Tab S9 FE+ is expected to feature a 12.4-inch display and a 2560 x 1600 resolution, which is the same ratio as the smaller device.

The source also said that the chipset would not be a Snapdragon platform, and we have already spotted devices with the Exynos 1380 chip – this is a significant downgrade compared to the flagship SoC of the premium Tab S9 trio.

There will be two memory options for each version. The Vanilla option will come with 6/128GB or 8/256GB, while the Plus will be offered with 8/128GB or 12/256GB. All variants will have a micro SD slot for up to 1TB of additional storage.

The devices are expected to be IP68 certified and have 12MP selfie cameras, likely the same ones on the proper Tab S9 line. The little FE will have an 8MP camera on the back, while the Plus will have two cameras, but we don’t think it’s a practical idea to take photos with a device around 30 centimeters in size.

We already expect the tablets to be quite expensive compared to the Tab S7 FE series. The Tab S9 FE will likely start at €529, while the Tab S9 FE+ is expected to have a starting price of €699, and that’s for the Wi-Fi-only options. Tablets with 5G support will probably cost 100 euros more.

All questions will be answered next month, when the launch is scheduled. Samsung has yet to officially schedule a launch date.
