Little M5 comes with Helio G99, M5s tag together

The Poco M5 and Poco M5s smartphones are now official. Powered by Mediatek’s Helio G-series chipsets and large 5,000mAh batteries, these two aim to redefine the formula for value for money.

Little M5

The M5 features a 6.58 inch LCD display with Full HD + resolution and 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sample rate. There is a Gorilla Glass protector on the top of the screen and a hole for 5MP selfie camera.

There are three cameras mounted on an island that extends from one end to the other on the back. The 50MP f / 1.8 main shooter is assisted by 2MP f / 2.4 macro and 2MP f / 2.4 depth units.

Little M5

The highlight of the Poco M5’s spec sheet is the Helio G99 chipset, the first of the series based on TSMC’s 6nm process technology. It has two Cortex-A76 CPU cores running at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 drives at 2.0 GHz. On the Poco M5 it is paired with 4 GB or 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 memory. . There is also a microSD slot for memory expansion.

The Poco M5 comes with MIUI 13 on Android 12 ready to use. It weighs 201 grams and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging support.

Little M5

It has a plastic back with a leather finish, available in all three colors: black, green and the exclusive Poco Yellow. The starting price for a 4/64 GB version is 189 euros, the 4/128 GB variant is 209 euros, while 6/128 GB will cost 229 euros. Early buyers will receive a € 20 early bird discount once the sale begins tomorrow, September 6th. Users in India have a more limited choice: the first option for INR12,499 ($ ​​155) or the third option for INR14,499 ($ ​​180), with an additional discount of INR1,500 ($ 20) via partner banks. Sales in the South Asian country will begin a week later, on September 13th.

The Poco M5s offers a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen, but only refreshes at 60Hz. It’s powered by the 12nm Helio G95 chipset that arrived nearly two years ago.

The M5s gets a more capable camera setup than the M5 with the 64MP f / 1.8 main unit coupled with an 8MP f / 2.2 ultrawide shooter with 118-degree FoV. There are still a couple of 2MP shooters for macro and depth. The front camera, hidden inside a hole, has a 13 MP sensor.

Battery capacity might be the same, but the M5s boosts the fast charge rate to 33W, filling the 5,000mAh cell in just over an hour. The Poco M5s also has NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an IP53 rating.

All of these specs might sound familiar because the phone is already available under two other names: Redmi Note 10S and Redmi Note 11 SE in India. One of the main differences is the software: the Poco M5s comes with the latest MIUI 13, in addition to Android 12.
