The Legion Y70 is officially Lenovo’s first smartphone with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The flagship is part of the Legion family of games, but has simpler aesthetics without skimping on top-tier performance.

The screen is a 6.67-inch OLED with a 144Hz refresh rate and a touch sample rate of up to 1500Hz. There is a single hole in the center for the selfie camera and while Lenovo says nothing about placement fingerprint scanner, we can assume that it is embedded in the power key.
Removing the sensor from under the screen allowed Lenovo to make the Y70 extremely thin, just 7.99mm at the base. The company has managed to cram “up to 10 layers” of cooling solutions, including several graphite sheets and the largest VC on the market: 5,047 sqmm, which alone is only 0.55mm thick.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset is a natural improvement over the non-Plus variant of the gaming Legion Y90. It is paired with UFS 3.1 memory and LPDDR5 RAM, and Lenovo offers the Y70 in three combinations: 8/128 GB, 12/256 GB and 16/512 GB.
The cameras on the back of this phone are also impressive: the main one is 50 MP with a 1 / 1.55 “sensor, the secondary is a 13 MP ultra wide angle with 120 degrees FoV and there is also a depth sensor. 2 MP. The selfie camera is listed as 16MP.
The Legion Y70’s battery is 5,100mAh and supports 68W fast charging. Lenovo has also introduced some smart features that monitor cell life and charge patterns to protect the battery for longer. The software is ZUI 14 and we can only hope it has Android 12 underneath – Lenovo has been silent on the details.
The fact that the Legion Y70 is part of a gaming family means that it also has some interesting accessories: Lenovo has introduced a protective case with cooling capabilities, an air cooler similar to the Asus AeroActive product, and attachable shoulder triggers.

Lenovo Legion Y70 is available for pre-order on the company’s China website in three colors – black, white, and red – but the latter is only available with the more expensive memory choice. Prices start at CNY3,299, which is around $ 485. The phone will most likely remain a China exclusive, but we can hope for a surprise from Lenovo.
