Reliance Jio is bringing 5G connectivity to India, and we have been hearing rumors of an in-house next-generation network-enabled smartphone for the past few months.

Today, a device with the model number LS1654QB5 passed through Geekbench and we expect it to be the first 5G Jio Phone. The chipset is Snapdragon 480+, an 8nm platform launched in October 2021.

Jio Phone 5G appears on Geekbench with Snapdragon 480+

This is the second time we’ve heard of such a phone with a Snapdragon 480 chipset. The first rumor suggested 4GB of RAM and Android 11, although we can see on Geekbench that Jio is going further and will bring Android 12 to this device.

Jio has been working with Google to create the Pragati OS, a custom Android for the JioPhone Next, and we may or may not see the same UI in the next device. If we can trust the previous rumor, we can expect a 6.5-inch LCD with HD+ resolution, a 13MP triple camera and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging via a USB-C port.
