Today Apple released iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, and watchOS 10.1 on all supported devices. The downloads should already be available to anyone who searches for them manually, in Apple’s usual way (see, Google?).

iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1 arrive a day later than previously stated, and bring with them support for continuing a large AirDrop file transfer over the Internet when you’re out of AirDrop’s range. The Apple Music app now includes options for favorite songs, albums, and playlists, and you can find new song suggestions at the end of each playlist (Spotify says hello).

The fix for high SAR values in France on the iPhone 12 has also been included. Screen Time synchronization between devices has been improved and of course there are several bug fixes as well, as with any update. For example, an issue that could cause the displayed image to persist has been fixed, as has a bug that could cause the Meaningful Location setting to reset when transferring or pairing an Apple Watch for the first time. iPadOS 17.1 also adds support for Apple Pencil USB-C announced last week.

watchOS 10.1 brings the Double Tap gesture to Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. This can be used to perform the primary action in notifications and most apps, meaning it lets you answer a call, play and pause music, stop a timer, and more.

On Apple Watch Series 7 and later, NameDrop now lets you exchange contact information with someone simply by tapping your Apple Watch against their iPhone running iOS 17, or their Apple Watch if it’s supported. My Card is also available as a complication for quick access to NameDrop.

There are also bug fixes, including an issue that caused the weather section in the Home app to be blank, one that messed up the syncing of cities between iPhone and Apple Watch in the Weather app, and one where the scroll bar could unexpectedly become visible on the display.
