Huawei held an event today in China, where its latest leaflet was revealed. Check out the Huawei Pocket S, a cheaper foldable that inherits the P50 Pocket’s footprint but comes with downgraded cameras and chipsets.
The internal screen is a 6.9-inch OLED with a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels. It supports a refresh rate of 120Hz and a PWM of 1440Hz, as well as a touch sample rate of 300Hz. The chipset is a Snapdragon 778G, limited to LTE connectivity.

The selfie camera is nestled inside a hole and has the same 10.7MP sensor as the P50 Pocket. The circular display on the lid, just below the cameras, is a 1.04 ”OLED with 340 x 340 resolution.
The cover houses a 40 MP shooter with RYYB sensor and f / 1.8 lens, supported by a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The P50 Pocket’s 32MP sensor is replaced with a laser AF sensor.
The UI is Harmony OS 3.0, which is not surprising given that the phone will initially be sold in China. It comes with many pre-installed apps for local audiences and offers customizations for the cover screen AOD features.

Huawei Pocket S has ultra-thin foldable graphite sheet to enhance cooling capabilities. There is a 4,000mAh battery with 40W fast charging. The company promised that the hinge wing mechanism was opened and closed 400,000 times during testing to ensure its durability.
Huawei offers the Pocket S in five colors, all simple, unlike the P50 Pocket with its fancy shades and patterns. Users can purchase the leaflet in mint green, golden yellow, pink rose, ice crystal blue and black.
Prices are CNY5,988 ($ 820 / € 830) for the 128GB storage variant and CNY 6,488 ($ 890 / € 900) for the 256GB version. These two will go on sale on November 10, while a third version with 512GB of storage will arrive in December for CNY7,488 ($ 1,028 / € 1,040).
