Huawei introduced the FreeClip true wireless earbuds earlier this month, and now we have a pair of these wearable audio devices up for review.

The product was announced in two colors: purple or black and we got the latter. It is certainly the least exciting version, but also much less demanding in terms of matching it with your clothing items.

The buds have a unique design, that’s for sure. What surprised us was their perfect fit to the curvature of the human ear and how light and unobtrusive they are. It took some time to learn how to put them on correctly, but once you get into the habit, using the FreeClip is super easy.

The clip is made up of three parts: the Comfort Bean, which sits behind the ear, the C-shaped bridge that surrounds the ear, and the acoustic ball, where the sound comes from. Every part of this assembly is touch sensitive and works just like any other wearable audio device.

The wearables connect via Bluetooth, but we had to install the AI Life app from the AppGallery. While not required, the app lets you customize audio output and touch gestures.

Huawei proudly announced that FreeClip is the first open-ear audio accessory that does not distinguish between left and right ears: the design is the same and therefore works equally well on both ears; the buds can also be inserted into the case in any order.

We are already working on the review and so far the results look promising. We’ll have a final verdict before the end of the year, so stick around!
