Honor has just announced another member of the Honor 80 family, this time with a GT designation. The Honor 80 GT falls between the Honor 80 Pro and the vanilla version, but appears to be much closer to the 80 Pro as it is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
Compared to the 80 Pro, the 80 GT has a smaller 6.67-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 px, but still offers 10-bit color depth, 100% DCI-P3, peak brightness of 1,400 nits and, of course, a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset is paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, while the storage is always 256GB. Something tells us that the global version of this phone will have different storage configurations, but only time will tell.
The camera setup on the back is particularly interesting. The main shooter uses a rare Sony IMX800 54 MP, 1/1.49″ sensor coupled with f/1.9 aperture, while for ultrawide, the device makes do with the less than ideal 8 MP camera, f Another dedicated 2MP macro snapper is in the menu The front camera is 16MP with f/2.4 aperture.
The Honor 80 GT is powered by a 4,800mAh battery, which supports Honor’s 66W fast charging protocol, and the smartphone launches with Android 12 and Magic UI 7.0 on top, which is also less than ideal given that Android 13 was released in October.
Honor highlights features like a large 4,386mm2 vapor chamber for better cooling and small 1,415 copper wires. A 74mm graphene sheet was also implemented.
Honor 80 GT in all three color options
Since this is a Chinese launch, Honor has only announced pricing for its domestic market. The 12GB RAM version starts at CNY 3,299 ($475), while the 16GB RAM option is priced at CNY 3,599 ($520). Available colors are Black, Blue and White.
