Apple’s iMac is quite popular because it offers a clean all-in-one setup for desktop workers who don’t need the high-end performance of a Mac Pro. However, there is currently only one model, and it’s already getting long-lived: the 2021 24-inch iMac powered by the original M1.

by Bloomberg Mark Gurman reports that Apple is working on a more powerful version, which will use the upcoming Apple M3 chip (3nm instead of 5nm like the current M1 and M2 chips). That will still be the same size, though.

Cupertino is also developing a larger 32-inch iMac, according to Gurman. This will be a similar high-end offering to the Apple Pro Display XDR, which has a 32-inch IPS LCD panel, 6K (16:9) resolution, and 10-bit color. For comparison, the current 24″ iMac has a 24″ 4.5K (16:9) display, again with 10-bit color.

However, the 32-inch iMac won’t be available any time soon, as the design process is only just beginning. The current forecast is that it will be presented in late 2024 or even 2025. The 24-inch M3 model should arrive early next year.

By the way, there were also small 21.5-inch iMacs, but Apple is not known to go below 24 inches with the new models.
