Google I/O is Google’s annual developer conference, but this year it appears to have been completely hijacked from the company’s hardware manufacturing arm. According to many recent rumors, the search giant will use the opportunity to finally announce a number of new devices, such as the Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet and Pixel 7a.

And now Google itself has confirmed that the Pixel Fold will be arriving at this year’s I/O, which takes place on May 10. all to see.

The leaked renders no longer make sense, do they, when the manufacturer himself shows his hand like this about a week before the grand opening. Google also adopted a similar auto-loss strategy last year, so that’s obviously nothing new. What’s new for a foldable, especially nowadays, are those huge top and bottom bezels on the internal screen – we’re not sure what’s going on and why they would be there. We’ve seen a lot of foldable devices, and none of the last ones have bezels as big as they look.

Anyway, if you’re wondering about the dimensions of the Pixel Fold, a lot of leaks and rumors have already claimed that it’s more similar to Oppo’s Find N and Find N2 than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4. Smaller overall and when you open it, the internal screen is in landscape mode.

The device is expected to be powered by Google’s Tensor G2 SoC, weigh 283g, and may have a slightly larger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold4. Google’s first foldable device will retail for $1,799 in the US and be available on June 27.
