Android 13 is out of beta now, but Google has another beta coming up if you’ve really missed a beta around. So if you like a beta version, why not get on the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 train, what time is up?

Let’s unpack it for a second. We’re talking about what Google calls Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) 1 – this will be known as the December “feature drop” when, well, drops, in December. And today, the first beta of this Android 13 QPR1 is available for those who want to try “new platform features, bug fixes, performance optimizations and September 2022 security patches”.

Unfortunately the company hasn’t made a proper change log available, so it’s unclear for now if there are any new user-relevant features packed into it. But, if you have one of the Pixel devices that is still supported (we’re talking Pixel 4a, 5, 5a, 6, 6 Pro, and 6a), you can go to the Android Beta program page and sign it up for this beta. You will then receive Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 as a software update, within 24 hours.

If you were previously subscribed to the beta version of Android 13 and have not deactivated, you will automatically receive the QPR1 Beta 1 and all future betas. If you don’t want to, disable the Beta program and don’t install the update – this will allow you to keep user data on your phone. If you quit the program after installing Beta 1, you will need to clear the data on your phone to return to the stable version of Android 13.

The build number for this first beta is T1B1.220819.007 for Pixel 6a and T1B1.220819.006 for all other devices.
