This is one of the most “out there” designs we’ve seen: yes, the Honor V bag is in fact meant to be carried like a purse. There are also trendy interchangeable straps and chains. This is just a conceptual device for now, but the project has some real-world elements that we’ll talk about shortly.

And don’t let the extravagance fool you, this is actually a very advanced device. It folds outward and measures just 9mm thick when closed, thinner than the Magic V2 and even some bar phones.

Honor calls it a “phy-digital fashion statement.” Combine physical designs (the bands) with vibrant, interactive Always On Display styles. The company used top talent to design these AOD styles: Burberry menswear design director Bram Van Diepen, contemporary artist Yunuene Esparza, China Academy of Art International College dean Yuan Youmin and interdisciplinary artist Xiao Hui Wang.

The goal is that with interchangeable straps and a variety of AOD designs (which are visible on both sides since it is foldable outward), you can match the Honor V bag to any outfit you wear, thus reducing your reliance on fast fashion.

Did we mention that the V Purse also has a green design? It’s made from sustainably sourced materials, including vegan leather for the straps. This concept aims to push the fashion industry to embrace new technologies “to encourage consumers to buy less and use them for longer”.

Unfortunately, it’s just a concept, so don’t ask when you’ll be able to buy one. But Honor is planning to open the platform for AOD projects, which will allow developers and designers around the world to create custom looks. The platform allows the AOD to react to the user and the environment while tracking touches and having access to the ambient light sensor and accelerometer. We don’t know what the future holds for the V Purse, but its story isn’t over yet.

Honor did not provide many details about the hardware, as it is not intended for mass production. He mentioned having created a hinge that can withstand 400,000 folding cycles. This is interesting since most of the development of folding zippers has focused on the inward folding style.

Is a purse phone too weird? Modern smartphones already function as wallets, can also serve as house and car keys and can even safely store your documents. Maybe it isn’t That crazy and we always appreciate when a company thinks outside the box.
