According to multiple reports from people close to Fossil or those who have asked Fossil employees, the brand will no longer release Wear OS-based smartwatches. This means that the Fossil Gen 7 watch won’t be made after all.

Fossil watches will no longer run on Wear OS, reports say

This seems to be in line with recent events around Fossil, or lack thereof. The last Fossil Gen 6 watch was released two years ago, and the usual summer release schedule didn’t bring a Fossil Gen 7 watch this year. Not to mention, the device is surprisingly absent from the usual rumors.

Last but not least, Fossil is currently having a huge sale of its Fossil Gen 6 watch, probably to clear out inventory. There is now a discount of over 50% on the official Fossil website.

Unfortunately, there is no information on why Fossil chose to forgo Wear OS and what kind of software will be used in future Fossil watches.
