Samsung’s Galaxy A55 is definitely in development and is already getting closer to release. As far as we know, the phone will use Exynos S5E8845 chipset, believed to be the Exynos 1480, as the Exynos 1380 and 1280 carry model numbers S5E8835 and S5E8825 and power the Galaxy A54 and A53 respectively. In an interesting new development, a GeekBench scorecard for the chipset in question has been spotted online, likely running on a test platform of some kind.

It scored 1,180 points in the single-core CPU performance test and 3,536 points in the multi-core CPU performance test. This is noticeably better than the Galaxy A54’s scores of 1,108 points and 2,797, respectively.
According to previous rumors, the Exynos 1480 is an octa-core chipset with four high-power CPU cores, clocked at up to 2.75 GHz and another four efficient cores running at up to 2.05 GHz. What’s potentially most interesting is that the chipset is said to use an AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU. It should be significantly more powerful than the Malu GPUs in previous Exynos chips and could potentially offer raytracing in games as well. However, that part is speculation at this point.

As for the rest of the upcoming Galaxy A55, we recently received a series of renders of the device that reveal a familiar design, albeit with some improvements. Specifically, the flat sides on what appears to be a central metal frame. As far as we currently know, the Galaxy A55 will have a 6.5-inch OLED display, FullHD+, 120Hz, plus – a 50MP main camera and 25W charging.
