Counterpoint Research has released its bill of materials (BOM) for the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, priced at $1,199. According to the report, components for the base 256GB model cost $502, with the A17 processor and new telephoto camera bringing an increase over its predecessor.

Analysts revealed that the BOM cost is $37.7 higher than last year’s 256GB iPhone 14 Pro Max, which also launched with a price tag of $1,199.

Analysts said the A17 Pro chip costs $30 more than the A16 Bionic, largely because it is made with 3nm process technology.

The Periscope Telephoto Lens is a first for iPhone. Lante Optics is the prism supplier, while Cirrus Logic and LG Innotek make the 3D sensor shift stabilization mechanism. The overall increase is $25.1 (34%), but Counterpoint has included all cameras, including Face ID and ToF modules, in the calculations.

Another slight price increase is the titanium alloy case, which costs $7 more than last year’s stainless steel frame.

Apple has increased the RAM of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is now 8 GB (compared to 6 GB of the predecessor), but due to the downward trend of the memory market, the price has dropped by $16.8. The display of the new iPhone has not changed and since the price of the display is also falling, Apple paid $4 less to Samsung Display and LG Display.
